Cycle western New England during peak autumn colors and help fight ALS
What's better than exploring western New England on a bicycle during peak fall colors? How about knowing that your effort is helping to combat a deadly disease -amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The Death Ride Tour/ Fall Blaze is produced by DEATH RIDE Tour Inc., Charity Cycling Events, a 501c3 Non-Profit whose mission is to support research to combat ALS and help make a difference in the lives of those fighting this devastating disease. River's Edge Cycling provides key logistical support to the event.
About the Ride
This three-day tour explores some of the most scenic cycling in America. Beginning at the beautiful Jiminy Peak Resort in Lanesborough, Massachusetts, the Fall Blaze riders travel over 70 miles as they ascend Massachusetts' highest peak, Mt. Greylock and then pedal through charming rural Vermont villages to their overnight destination Brattleboro, VT. On day two's 84-mile leg, riders follow the Connecticut and Ashuelot Rivers through southern New Hampshire and climb into the Quabbin highlands of western Massachusetts before savoring an 11-mile descent into the river valley and day's end in the vibrant city of Northampton, MA. On the final day of the tour, riders travel 66 miles along scenic byways into the Berkshire hills as they climb through the Hoosac Range and travel back to Jiminy Peak. Death Ride Tour Inc. coordinates the event, arranges room blocks at partner hotels (see below) and hosts some meals. River's Edge Cycling will provide your marked route, rest stops, sag support and luggage transfer during the tour. The pros at Speed and Sprocket Cycle Works will provide on-road and in-town mechanical support.
Rider Registration and Fundraising Commitment
Rider registration is only $125 ($100 Early Bird!). Riders also commit to raise $300 to support ALS research prior to the start of the tour. Riders are responsible for their own lodging at partner hotels (see information below) and most meals. Learn more about the Death Ride Tour/ Fall Blaze
Overnight Communities and Partner Hotels
The three-day tour features overnights in three charming western New England communities; Lanesborough, MA, Brattleboro, VT and Northampton, MA.
Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, Lanesborough, MA
Jiminy Peak is the ideal location to start the Fall Blaze tour. Surrounded by the Berkshire hills in their autumn glory, the resort is a colorful and comfortable place to gather with fellow riders for a hearty meal and restful night's sleep before ascending Mt. Greylock just a few miles from the hotel.
Brattleboro is southern Vermont's culture and arts community with plenty of restaurants, breweries and shops to explore when you roll into town. The Latchis Hotel will be the tour's main headquarters. It's a lovingly-restored art deco hotel in the heart of town. Walk from the hotel to explore this charming, artistic community.
The final night of the tour is in western New England's most vibrant little city, Northampton, MA. Main Street is bustling with restaurants and shops to visit when you arrive. Our main hotel is the Hotel Northampton in the heart of town. This historic property has been the city's hospitality hub since 1927 and has welcomed five US presidents and countless stars.
